Hole No. 13 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club

Three Myrtle Beach-area golf courses – The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club – have cracked Golfweek Magazine’s prestigious 2020 list for “Top 100 Best Courses You Can Play in the U.S.

The Dunes Club (#50) and Caledonia (#62) also appeared in Golfweek’s 2019 list for “Best You Can Play in the U.S.” Joining them this year is True Blue (#95), which along with Caledonia showcases the renowned design excellence of the late Mike Strantz.

The venerable Robert Trent Jones design that opened in 1948, The Dunes Club has been appearing on national rankings of public courses for several decades now. Caledonia (1994) and True Blue (1998) have also made recurring appearances in this and other nationwide listings since their respective debuts on the Grand Strand golf scene.

These courses join three additional South Carolina venues in Golfweek’s nationwide ranking, highlighted by The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort (#8), home of the 2012 and 2021 PGA Championship as well as the 1991 Ryder Cup. Sea Pines Resort at Harbour Town Golf Links (#22) and May River at Montage Palmetto Bluff (#53) round out the Palmetto State’s entrants on this list.

Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pinehurst No. 2, Whistling Straits, Shadow Creek, the Black Course at Bethpage State Park and Bandon Dunes’ Pacific Dunes, Old Macdonald, Bandon Dunes and Bandon Trails courses complete Golfweek’s top 10 selections for 2020.
