Golf Digest Tabs The Dunes Golf & Beach Club Among PGA TOUR’s Top Event Venues for 2024

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club wasted no time in vaulting its way to prominence within the ranks of the 32 host venues of PGA TOUR events for 2024. Golf Digest has released its rankings of the 32 PGA TOUR event courses for this year, with the Grand Strand’s Robert Trent Jones signature design already finding itself among the top half.

The host of the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic comes in at No. 16, slotted between the Stadium Course at PGA West (site of 2021 Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship winner Nick Dunlap’s recent historic win as an amateur) at No. 15, and TPC Southwind (site of the FedEx St. Jude Championship) at No. 17.

Golf Digest’s Drew Powell and Stephen Hennessey compiled the guide in an effort to rank the 32 U.S. courses that will host a PGA TOUR event or major championship this season, based on the scores from the publication’s 1,800 course-rating panelists. (The list only includes events played in the U.S; five international events are scheduled this season. Also, Golf Digest only ranks the primary course at multi-course events such as Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach.)

To the surprise of no one Augusta National Golf Club (host of The Masters) tops the list, followed by Pebble Beach Golf Links (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am), Muirfield Village Golf Club (The Memorial Tournament), The Riviera Country Club (The Genesis Invitational) and Pinehurst No. 2 (U.S. Open).

It’s the second lofty accolade bestowed upon The Dunes Club in recent weeks. In December, Joe Passov of LINKS Magazine presented its list of “The 10 Most Influential American Designs You Can Play” with The Dunes Golf & Beach Club at No. 4 among a top five that also features Pinehurst No. 2, Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Black Course at Bethpage State Park and Harbour Town Golf Links.

The Myrtle Beach Classic is set to make its PGA TOUR debut May 9-12, 2024. Tickets can be purchased at MyrtleBeachClassic.com, with daily and weekly passes available with grounds, clubhouse and shared hospitality options. Military service members of any branch are eligible to receive discounted ticket access to all four official tournament rounds, as well as complimentary access to the May 8 practice round.
