There will be new options for eating, seating and shopping at this year’s ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, set for May 8-11 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

General admission seating and standing room viewing will be added behind the 18th green and there will be additional merchandise areas, including a beach-themed venue on the oceanside lawn next to the main entrance.

“We are calling it the Sand Bucket Surf Shop, and we will be offering merchandise items that reflect our beach location and ocean views,” said Dennis Nicholl, PGA director of golf at the Dunes Club, who is working with PGA Merchandiser Cyndi Graham. “We will have beach-themed items such as T-shirts, beach towels, hoodies, straw hats, and even a couple surf boards. We’ll certainly offer the traditional items, like festive patterned golf shirts and hats, but I don’t recall ever seeing a themed merchandise shop like this anywhere on the PGA TOUR.”

Food truck vendors will also have a place, in addition to the traditional concession stops throughout the course, as there will be food court area in the Fan Zone, located next to the 17th green.

“We want to create a festival atmosphere for our Fan Zone,” said Darren Nelson, tournament director. “When our ticket holders want a break from watching golf and walking the course, we want them to make our Fan Zone the place to be. Our post-round concert series will be staged here as well.”

Last year’s event drew more than 40,000 fans, and delivered some memorable golf moments and offered additional entertainment with two free concerts. It also received rave reviews from the professional golfers.

The concert series announced to date has the soulful Chairmen of the Board on Thursday and country music star Tyler Hubbard, formerly of Florida Georgia Line, on Saturday. Both shows will start shortly after play is completed for the day.
