Music will be in the air at the Myrtle Beach Classic as ticketholders for the Thursday and Saturday golf rounds will be treated to a free concert starting at 6 p.m. each night. The area’s first ever PGA TOUR event will be contested from May 9-12 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Boosted by the top-three performances of medalist Max Kennedy (-8) and Cooper Claycomb (T3, -6). the University of Louisville surged to a third-round lead it would not relinquish in route to both team and individual titles Wednesday at the 2024 General Hackler Championship at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Kennedy edged Chattanooga’s John Houk (-7) to earn medalist honors – along with a special exemption to compete in the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic.

Nine local social service charities have been selected to receive a grant from revenue generated by the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, scheduled May 6-12 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, meaning the event will not only showcase the Grand Strand but also benefit the area. A total of $225,000 will be allocated for 2024.

The PGA TOUR is coming to The Golf Capital of the World for the first time in 2024 and along with it is a first-of-its-kind competition for a coveted sponsor’s exemption into the event. Golf Tourism Solutions (GTS) and Visit Myrtle Beach will be hosting “The Q at Myrtle Beach,” a 16-player, 18-hole shootout on March 4 with the winner earning a spot in the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic.

The Grand Strand’s first-ever PGA TOUR event, the Myrtle Beach Classic, is now set for May 6-12, 2024 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
