When you talk food and the Carolinas, the first thing that comes to mind for many is barbecue. While Myrtle Beach is known as much for its seafood, there is a lot of great pork here, too. 

There is a case to be made that Legends Resort is America’s most popular three-course facility. Golfers flock to the Scottish-inspired property and its trio of highly regarded courses – Heathland, Moorland and Parkland – to enjoy an almost unmatched combination of quality and value. 

Golf Digest unveiled its biennial ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses in the June issue of the magazine, and a pair of Myrtle Beach layouts had their place among the game’s elite reaffirmed. 

Myrtle Beach is full of quality golf courses that don’t attract the spotlight; it’s a byproduct of having 86 layouts in the game’s most popular market. 

Golfweek recently released its annual list of the best courses you can play in each state, and Myrtle Beach, again, dominated the ranking of South Carolina’s leading public courses. 

Barefoot Resort is home to four golf courses, three of which have been ranked among America’s top 100 public layouts, and the facility has few peers. 

As so many do each year, celebrities turned out in droves once more to take part in the 2017 Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, hosted at the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf. 

Myrtle Beach National, home of three Arnold Palmer-designed courses, is one of the Grand Strand’s signature facilities. All three layouts – King’s North, SouthCreek and West Course – are 4+ star designs, according to Golf Digest, but playability is an essential component of each.

Willbrook Plantation Golf Club is surrounded by some of the best courses in America, but the Lowcountry beauty sits comfortably among its high-profile peers. 

Waccamaw High School, led by Patrick Golden’s 3-under par 69, rallied from a 7-stroke deficit on the final day to win the Palmetto High School Golf Championship at True Blue Golf Club.
