Last week was field trip time along the South Strand, where colleagues Joe and Rob met up with me for lunch at The Venue at International Club in Murrells Inlet – an all-new, dynamic dining option now available for your pre- and post-round pleasure.
We charged The Venue with satisfying the taste buds of three discriminating diners, and our post-meal verdict was unanimous:
“Guilty” on all counts. This place rocks!
Our appetizers included a fantastic Fried Burrata with red sauce, pesto, basil and fried burrata served with torn pizza bread; and “The Hanger” – a hot, huge, Bavarian-style pretzel served with pablano queso and whole grain mustard. Rob also tried the Seafood Chowder, a deliciously creamy chowder with clams, scallops and crab, garnished with roasted corn, bacon and chives.
We could have doubled our appetizer order and been perfectly content with those items as our meal, but we had more food to sample. And man, what a kickoff to the effort! You will not go wrong with any of these as a starter to your next meal here.
Now it was time for the main courses, with Rob trying the Steak Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries featuring tender steak, mushroom spread, arugula, smoked bleu cheese, sun dried tomato, red pepper vinaigrette, and red onion on toasted sourdough bread. Rob didn’t have much to say; he was too busy devouring his food, but did manage an enthusiastic thumbs-up along the way.
Joe had the Club Sandwich with Onion Rings including ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado, tomato, herb mayo, and arugula on toasted sourdough bread. Another emphatic thumbs-up here.
And for yours truly, I went with the Fried Green Tomato Caprese with Grilled Chicken highlighted by lightly fried green tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, red pepper vinaigrette, truffle oil, salt and pepper. Our server recommended this one for me, and I remain forever grateful for the advice. The sauce and crispiness combination of this one had me sold from the jump. I’ll be getting this one again.
We didn’t get to sample The Venue’s specialty pizza offerings this time around, but that just gives us a perfect reason for a return trip. We also stuck with soft drinks for this visit, but The Venue’s fully appointed bar quickly caught our attention with an impressive display of top shelf liquor options and array of spirits from Cape Fear Distillery. So now we have another perfect reason to come back!
Beyond its daily pre-and post-round options, The Venue at International Club will soon be expanding hours to feature Happy Hour and dinner specials. In the coming weeks they’ll also unveil a new, outdoor patio bar complete with fire pit and plenty of space to lounge and soak in the sun and gaze at the stars.
In the meantime, we think you’ve got plenty of additional reason now to add International Club of Myrtle Beach as a compelling course option for your next, one-of-a-kind golf getaway!
