The 2026 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic is the first PGA TOUR event to be conducted in Myrtle Beach. However, The Dunes Golf & Beach Club has hosted six season-ending championships on the PGA TOUR Champions from 1994-1999. And 21 years earlier, The Dunes Club was the site of the PGA TOUR Qualifying School Finals (1973), with Ben Crenshaw taking medalist honors.

Robert Trent Jones’ handiwork in The Golf Capital of the World® takes center stage this week with The Dunes Golf & Beach Club hosting the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, and his son’s efforts here are noteworthy as well. Jim Maggio’s recent visit to the Rees Jones-designed Arcadian Shores bore witness to that, and he captured some early-morning imagery from its back nine along the way.

This week’s Play Golf Myrtle Beach course in the spotlight is Lockwood Folly, the North Strand design featuring a par-five 18th hole that is reachable in two shots for most golfers. With the victory, Ruffels secures the final spot in the 2026 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, set for May 7-10 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. 

The innovative, two-round competition, which saw eight of the world’s most popular golf creators battle for a PGA TOUR exemption, concluded April 30 in a high-stakes finale at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club.

The Q kicked off Monday at Rivers Edge, with match play competition whittling the field down from eight to four players – Grant Horvat, Micah Morris, Luke Kwon and Ryan Ruffels – who now play one another in a stroke-play showdown at Pawleys Plantation.

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, is set to tee it up at this year’s ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, adding one of the most accomplished resumes in professional golf to the tournament field.  

Koepka’s most recent major victory came at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. His other major titles include back-to-back U.S. Open wins in 2017 and 2018, along with PGA Championship triumphs in 2018 and 2019. A former World No. 1, Koepka also owns four additional PGA TOUR victories over the course of his professional career.
